April/May Digs and Duds

Hello my lovelies!

Let’s Get Started:

Digs:

Mount Lai De-Puffing Jade Facial Roller –

I know that items like jade rollers seem a lot like they would be akin to woo medicine, but lymphatic drainage is a real thing that can be done at home, as well as by Estheticians for a deeper drain. You do not necessarily need a roller that stands at $32.00, but this Mount Lai roller has been a dream to use, and is also just plain aesthetically pleasing.

The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution –

I had said in the past that I would likely not purchase from The Ordinary again, but while I am searching for an at-home chemical peel that suits my needs best, I decided to give this one a try. Visually speaking, I love the wine red color, and in terms of scent I actually really like the way it smells, even though I cannot put my finger on what it reminds me of. As for the product, I do think it does a good job of offering a deeper exfoliation as chemical peels should. Is it my favorite? Not necessarily, but I do really like it for what it is.

Origins Original Skin Matte Moisturizer –

Truth be told, I generally dislike Origins products. I find them to be natural enough that they become fairly ineffective, and also overpriced at the same time. This moisturizer has ended up being an exception to that rule. I love the smell of this moisturizer, and I love that it provides adequate daytime hydration for my combo oily skin without looking greasy in any way. It may be a matte moisturizer, but I do notice a slight glow when using this product and I enjoy it on all accounts.

Laneige Lip Glowy Balm in Berry –

I have been a HUGE fan of the overnight lip balm from this brand for a while now, and this day time balm is certainly living up to my expectations. I chronically suffer from dry lips and need near constant moisturization, and this gel formula provides hydration, comfort, and a pretty gloss. I think that together, the overnight balm and day time balm are a fantastic duo to keep your lips soft, hydrated, and smooth as a baby’s butt.

Too Faced Peach Perfect Comfort Matte Foundation in Cloud –

I was really on the fence when I first tried this foundation in my latest “Trying New Shit” post, but after several more uses, it has really grown on me. The formula is very matte, but it also stays matte during my entire day, and I spend a lot of my time in a humid facial room. If I have to blot my face, there is minimal oil and the foundation holds up remarkably well against blotting. I definitely have to make sure my skin is well hydrated before I use this foundation, lest I look like a dried out cake, but the formula is unbeatable in my eyes for long term matte wear.

Smashbox Studio Skin Flawless 24 Hour Concealer in Fair Warm –

I have never tried a Smashbox base product up until now, and this concealer makes me want to try them all. This concealer has a very thin consistency and reminds me of a paint-like smell (M.A.C. Anyone?), but has mega coverage and really does stay put forever. The shade is thankfully light enough for me to actually highlight, and does not feel even the least bit drying under the eyes. I have loved many concealers before, but I think that this concealer might be a ride or die.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Riviera Palette –

The color scheme of this palette alone gets five out of five stars, and so does the quality. I had heard that a few people felt the shadows were not living up to Anastasia’s high standards, but I also think these people felt the same about the Norvina palette, and I simply disagree. Subculture was a bit of a horror show given that it was ABH’s first dry run with pressed pigments, but they have drastically improved since then and I have really enjoyed this formula when it comes to their brighter shadows. ABH almost never disappoints me, and this palette was no exception.

Duds:

Too Faced Melted Gold Liquefied Lip Gloss –

For starters, I do not hate this product. I love the concept and I also love it in small doses, but I would not consider this an every day wearable product, which is where it falls short for me. I read lip gloss and think light gold sheen, but this product reminds me far more of a glossy liquid lipstick in that there is a lot of pigment. Naturally, this intense gold would look beautiful on someone of a much darker complexion, but on me, it looks like I might be suffering from hypoxemia. I theoretically really like this gloss, but in practice, it falls just short of the finish line.

That’s all I have for you guys today. Please remember to like, comment, and subscribe, it really helps me out. Also don’t forget to have a wonderful Wednesday!

Stay beautiful!
