“Happiness is a journey, not a destination”
Hello my lovelies!
Upon beginning to write this post, I realized I haven’t done a favorites post for the entire summer. This was definitely not out of laziness and more so due to the fact that I haven’t really bought anything this summer. I seemed to have been in more of a saving mode than anything, but at the same time, savings account? Can’t relate.
All of that being said, I am here and ready to give you a breakdown of my favorite products for what was technically the entirety of summer, but because I’m the worst, we’ll go with the month of August. I still don’t have a lot of products to talk about, but what I do have is definitely worth the time.
CeraVe Skin Renewing Gel Oil –
I use this product as part of my morning routine instead of an actual oil, and I have seen great results. My smile lines are far less noticeable throughout the day when I use this product consistently, and it is very helpful in keeping my skin properly moisturized. This product has improved the overall texture and radiance of my skin and keeps my face hydrated by not heavy or clogged.
L’oreal Infallible Longwear Shaping Stick Foundation –
I have never been a huge fan of stick foundations as they can feel very heavy and emphasize texture, but this foundation stick is no joke. The finish leans more toward satin and the coverage is medium-to-buildable. While I wish there was more initial coverage to the foundation so I could use less over time and having just one more lighter shade to match me perfectly, it is still a fantastic, longwearing stick foundation that has changed my mind about using stick foundations completely.
Maybelline Super Stay Multi-Use Foundation Stick –
Yet another foundation stick that has converted me, this foundation leans more toward the matte and full coverage side. This lightest shade is light enough for me, and I’ve really come to enjoy mixing this foundation with the L’oreal stick foundation to create my perfect coverage and finish. My dry skin can handle the matte finish well on its own and the product fills in my pores very nicely and does not emphasize any texture. This foundation can be a little harder to blend on my dry skin, but once everything is finished, this foundation looks great.
Sephora Collection Matte Perfection Powder Foundation –
I have been looking for an alternative to my M.A.C StudioFix powder, and this product has definitely given M.A.C a run for their money. I appreciate that the lightest shade is both pale enough and in a neutral undertone, and the coverage is fantastic. The powder does tend to give a lot of kickback when dipping my brush in it and that does concern me for its longevity, but the product performs very well and I am still able to collect any excess powder around the rim of the compact itself. This powder is definitely up there on my list of faves.
Maybelline TattooStudio Waterproof Eyebrow Gel –
For starters, I would like to formally debunk the idea that this product is nontransferable, as I could still rub it off once the product dried and it fully came off when washing my face. That being said, this is still a great brow product that I have been reaching for instead of my pencil. This product is very easy to use, has good staying power throughout the day (so long as you don’t rub your brows), and just generally looks good. This brow gel is a great way to create more polished brows without the time consuming effort of a pencil or pomade.
CeraVe Skin Renewing Day Cream –
This isn’t necessarily a bad moisturizer, but it isn’t good either. The moisturization of the product is great, but I still struggle with the consistency of the product. It can be hard to blend properly into the skin, and strangely does not mix well with my gel oil of the same brand. This moisturizer tends to get very streaky on the skin the more you blend it in and can feel slightly heavy until it has dried down. While it is a good moisturizer to use in between finding other products, I would not purchase this again.
L.A. Girl HD Pro Conceal –
I’m incredibly bummed that the product didn’t work for me solely because of the shade range, because it was actually a decent product overall. Since the lightest shade was still 3-4 shades too dark for me, I used it on my models for my recent show as an eye base. It held up very nicely and was easy to use, however I find the shade range to be very off putting as a consumer. The product itself is pretty good, but the shades and accuracy of the shades displayed online was the biggest disappointment.
That’s all I have for you guys today. Please remember to like, comment, and subscribe, it really helps me out. Also don’t forget to have a wonderful Wednesday!
