Battle of the Bases: L’oreal vs. Maybelline

“Find a place inside where there’s joy, and the joy will burn out the pain”

-Joseph Campbell

Hello my lovelies!

I’m so super pumped for today’s blog post, as I will be doing a comparison wear test of two brand new foundations. I will be comparing the L’oreal Infallible Longwear Shaping Stick Foundation and the Maybelline Super Stay Multi-Use Stick Foundation.

Before we get into the pictures and information on the actual wear test, I want to quick share some details from the brands themselves on both of these products.

Maybelline Super Stay Multi-Use Stick Foundation –

Price: $11.99

What It Is: A cream-to-matte finish stick foundation with a blending sponge to use at home or on the go for touchups.

Benefits: Conceals, contours, highlights and covers all with an easy to use sponge for on the go.

L’oreal Infallible Longwear Shaping Stick Foundation –

Price: $12.99

What It Is: Creamy medium to full coverage foundation stick.

Benefits: Buildable foundation with an SPF 17 that lasts up to 24 hours. Covers, conceals, contours, and highlights.

At first glance, I notice a lot of similarities between these two foundations. They are both multi-use, buildable with a good coverage level, and almost the same price. I should also mention that they are similar in that both of their shade ranges left a lot to be desired, as per usual.

Now that I’ve covered some basic details on the foundations, let’s get to the comparison pictures. I took pictures every 3-4 hours or whenever I had time, and ended up wearing the foundations for a total of 15 hours. The lefthand side of my face is the Maybelline foundation, while the right is the L’oreal foundation. I also applied them both with a beauty blender, as brushes are not generally my preference and the sponge on the end of the Maybelline stick was a waste of my time.

Wear Test:

Initial Application

3 hours of wear

7 hours of wear

12 Hours of wear

My Final Thoughts:

The Maybelline stick gave me a very nice matte and poreless finish throughout the day, while the L’oreal gave me a much more satin, natural-like finish. Overall, these foundations both lasted equally as long and looked practically the same. I did notice that over time, the L’oreal foundation sunk into my lines a little more than the Maybelline, and I attribute that to its less matte formula. The Maybelline stick needed a lot less building to get to full coverage but also initially clung to my dry patches, whereas the L’oreal stick needed more building but was easier to glide across the skin. These both looked beautiful on the skin and I would happily wear both of them again.

The Winner:

I really enjoyed both foundations tremendously, but even after this wear test, I have been reaching for the Maybelline stick over the L’oreal slightly more. While the Maybelline stick needs a little help when applying to the skin, the coverage level and longevity are what made it a winner in my book.

That’s all I have for you guys today. Please remember to like, comment, and subscribe, it really helps me out. Also don’t forget to have a fantabulous Friday!

Stay beautiful!

This was an awesome post because I’ve been debating which one to try out! I might go with the Maybelline one now!
