“Color is my day-long obsession, joy, and torment”
Hello my lovelies!
Holy cripes have I been excited to get this post up! I originally had a completely different picture for this post, but I eventually changed it up – quite drastically, I might add. I couldn’t be happier!
I do plan to double post, meaning that the eye look will be up at the same time tomorrow. I know this cut crease isn’t perfect, and I’m ALWAYS ready to practice, but I’m so proud of how this came out. I think I’ve really been killing it lately, if I’m being completely honest.
More to the point, let’s talk about this month’s great and not-so-great products!
First Aid Beauty Eye Duty Triple Remedy A.M. Gel Cream –
I really enjoy the Overnight version of this product, and figured I would give the daytime version a try. I am very pleased with how this product performs on my eyes, and I do genuinely believe that in combination with the other products I use, it has vastly improved the condition of my under eyes. The gel has a very pleasant, cooling sensation and feels refreshing to apply. The only downside in my eyes is the pump, a it does tend to shoot out a little too much product if you aren’t very careful.
Botanic Farm Salmon Egg Hydrogel Eye Patch –
In addition to my regular eye products, I have seen vast improvement by adding this into my routine at least 2-3 times a week. It is an incredibly cost effective purchase at $30 for 30 patches, meaning it is a single DOLLAR per patch. Think about how much you spend just for a singular pack in comparison. I maintain that the claims are true of this product; it does brighten, smooth, hydrate, AND depuff. Unfortunately, the deeper you get into the container, the more saturated the patches become, and are therefore more apt to slide down on your face. I find this to be a minor setback compared to the amazing benefits I’ve experienced.
Sunday Riley Good Genes All-In-One Lactic Acid Treatment –
If you’re looking for a reason to stray away from your favorite facial scrub (which you should, those things are terrible for you!), I would highly recommend any lactic acid treatment, but in particular, this product is a true winner. It can be hard to justify dropping $108.00 on skincare (although I went for the value size at $150.00). A single pump each night will do an amazing job of brightening your skin, sloughing off any dead skin cells, and even helps heal scarring and hyperpigmentation over time. There are no bad sides to this skincare product; it is a holy grail.
NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer “Chantilly” –
I had tried this concealer in times past and had not been impressed with it. I picked it up once again to see if I’ve changed my mind, and in some ways, I have, but I still hold fast on certain opinions I previously developed. I still am of the opinion that for $30.00 it isn’t anything I have to hoard 3 backups of. I like the consistency and the color is actually pale enough for me, but I don’t see any benefits that I can’t get out of my other concealers. Despite that, I did change my overall opinion, and I’m putting it under digs for that very reason, because ultimately, I would consider purchasing this again.
Wet N’ Wild MegaGlo Highlighting Powder “Precious Petals” –
When I first applied this, I was very underwhelmed with the pigmentation of this product. I figured that this would make a decent natural highlight and ended it there. Upon using it more, I discovered that this is a product that requires you to wear down the top layer, much like an E.L.F. highlighter. That being said, I began to like the color and pigmentation so much more after repeated use. It is just barely light enough on my porcelain skin, but does not leave an off gray cast when I am facing forward. I am not at all a fan of the flimsy, cheap packaging, however I can move past that since the product is such great quality.
Marc Jacobs Beauty “The Wild One” Palette –
I understand that this was a holiday product and is therefore discontinued, but it’s also the most expensive palette I own, and I’m going to use it up to the very last shadow granule because I’m so in love. I do promise to finally move onto my other palettes for future looks, but there are very good reasons I keep going back to this one. Every. Single. Shade is incredibly pigmented and easy to blend, the glitters and shimmers are to die for especially, and don’t even require a primer or concealer base to help amplify color. The packaging feels expensive, sturdy, and is completely gorgeous. I do feel that I have been able to create many looks with this palette so far, and it has a great mix of colors to assist in creating anything you’re in the mood for. Marc, can you please make this permanent?
Covergirl Get In Line Liquid Liner “Major Matte Black” –
I was so ready to really enjoy this eyeliner, as the brush tip is my preferred type of applicator, but I found this eyeliner to be more work than fun. The formula is a true matte black and does not show the slightest amount of a gloss, however it is very easy to get this liner all over your lashes. If you put your liner on before mascara, this can be a huge problem as the liner will make your lashes stick together, and therefore the mascara does not apply very well at all. The packaging is so lovely and such a nice upgrade to Covergirl’s packaging, but this was overall too difficult to use to make me want to purchase again.
Covergirl Melting Pout Glitz “Double Platinum” –
Yet another miss for Covergirl. I think it turned out much nicer in particular for the look above, but it still isn’t a favorite. I love the idea of a silver, metallic lip gloss, but this just didn’t do it for me. This product is described as a product similar to a lacquer, yet comes out more like a sheer lipgloss. I was looking forward to using this for some potential lip art, but I couldn’t get it to layer thick enough for such a thing. The concept is so cool and worth possibly redoing in the future, but overall a pretty big disappointment. I also wish the applicator was a wand instead of a squeeze tube, as I feel that this could’ve helped more with distributing product.
That’s all I have for you guys today. Please remember to like, comment, and subscribe, it really helps me out. Also don’t forget to have a marvelous Monday, and be sure to check out my eye look tomorrow!
