“As for the future, it remains unwritten. Anything can happen, and often we are wrong. The best we can do with the future is prepare and savor the possibilities of what can be done in the present”
Hello my lovelies!
It’s another “Trying New Shit” post!
I know that I posted my Sephora sale haul long ago, but I’m finally here to do a first impressions post. While I added and subtracted a few items from my original haul post, I wanted to finally sample the wares and let you know how I felt about each product.
Let’s get started:
Foundation: Revlon PhotoReady Insta-Filter Foundation – I was actually shocked to find that this foundation is almost pale enough for me, given that Revlon does not have a good track record of making foundations pale enough for me. It also wore like a dream on my oily skin and actually made my skin look flawless. Revlon has managed to win me over again after that Youth Rx foundation fiasco.
Concealer: Urban Decay All Nighter Waterproof Full-Coverage Concealer – I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I think this concealer is going to give Shape Tape a run for its money. I initially was scared when I went in to blend it out, as the consistency is a little drier compared to any other liquid concealer I’ve used. I felt much better once it was blended out and looked beautiful under my eyes. The lasting power was also killer and genuinely highlighted my face.
Highlighter: Wet N’ Wild Mega Glo Makeup Stick “When the Nude Strikes” – I’ll have to try this again in the future, because I technically used it incorrectly and I feel that might cloud my true opinion. I actually forgot to put this highlighting stick on BEFORE my foundation, and tried to use it after I powdered my face. Patting it with the fingers didn’t give much payoff, and drawing it on totally lifted my foundation. For now, my opinion is right down the middle; I think it has potential, but I need to play with it a little more (and correctly), in order to gauge my actual opinion.
Brows: Maybelline Total Temptation Eyebrow Definer Pencil – I’ve used this a couple of times already so I’m kind of cheating, but I still wanted to include it in this post. I like the color of this brow pencil and I find it easy to use, but I’m not completely wowed by it either. I think it’s just a standard brow pencil that works, and I can’t say there’s much more to it than that.
Eyeshadow: Marc Jacobs Beauty The Wild One Eyeshadow Palette – I know that this is outrageously expensive and is discontinued at most stores and sites, but this is truly an amazing palette. The shadows were so blendable and creamy, as well as incredibly pigmented. I even decided to attempt some baby cut crease action since this palette made me feel so confident.
Eyeliner: Make Up For Ever Aqua XL Ink Eye Liner “M-14” – I was really disappointed in this eyeliner, and I’m actually shocked by my disappointment. The first swipe of product was incredibly pigmented, but it immediately lost its luster after I dipped in for more. Instead of being a white liner, this looked like a muddy gray that mixed in with my eyeshadow. I should be able to use this product over darker shadows, and the fact that I can’t is incredibly disappointing.
Eyeliner: Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Liner “Glamrock” – This product ended up saving my white eyeliner debacle. I layered this over the white/gray liner to create a glitter liner effect, and for such a tiny applicator, I found myself very impressed. It’s not at all the same intensity as a loose glitter pigment, but I didn’t expect that anyway. I really appreciate that this didn’t chunk up and fall all over my face or into my eyes, and it just really saved my eye look overall.
Eyeliner: Make Up For Ever Aqua XL Eye Pencil Waterproof Eyeliner “I-90” – Now this is an MUFE liner I can get behind. I own another aqua one that you’ve probably seen in other posts, and this one is just as good as that one. It really stays on my waterline and is so vibrant. I only wish the liquid version could be this good.
Mascara: Maybelline Total Temptation Washable Mascara – I’ve also used this product a few times, and while I can’t say it’s the best mascara ever, I think it’s the one that I’ve received the most compliments on. Definitely a good contender for best drugstore mascara, and does make my eyelashes look amazing.
Lips: Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Liquefied Lipstick “Cava” – While I really enjoy the quality of Bite Beauty and their lipsticks, this liquefied lipstick is literally just the same stuff in liquid form. That’s not to say that I don’t like it, because I do, but I don’t agree that this is an innovative product when I can buy the bullet version all the same. I would also consider this more creamy like their bullet lipsticks before I would call the formula a satin finish. I’m not disappointed, I’m just underwhelmed.
That’s all I have for you guys today. Please remember to like, comment, and subscribe, it really helps me out. Also don’t forget to have an amazing start to your week!
