Trying New Shit Vol 2: Is it Halloween Yet?

“Where there is no imagination there is no horror”

-Arthur Conan Doyle

It’s that time where I try some new shit again! I love the idea of these posts because it means I can create looks that are a little more out there in terms of wearability.  Also, trying new stuff obviously.

Unlike the first installment of Trying New Shit, I will not be posting a separate eye tutorial, since I don’t think you guys need an in depth explanation on how to use liquid eyeliner. If you’re absolutely dying for it though, feel free to let me know in the comments!

Let’s get started:

Foundation: Wet N Wild Photo Focus H2O Foundation – I cheated a little bit and am using this product again in this series, but the first time I only used it as concealer.  I loved this color for my under eyes, and definitely enjoy it on my entire face, however it is a little pink for me. This isn’t a big deal as bronzer exists, and it doesn’t override the fact that this applies and layers beautifully, and keeps me pretty mattified through the day.

Blush: Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour blush in Dazzled – I adore my Dollface blush from Tarte, so it’s a no brainer that I would enjoy this one as well. The color is a beautiful, muted, rosy nude and looks great on my skin tone. I wouldn’t go so far as to say that these blushes last for 12 hours, but any fading that occurs is very minimal on my oily skin.

Highlight: NYX Duo Chromatic Powder in Twilight Tint – I LOVE obnoxious and bright highlights, and this one did not leave me disappointed. I enjoy the white and lavender shifts, and the intensity is great. Unfortunately, if you spend a lot of time in any fluorescent light, this highlight can cast gray and stripey on the cheeks, but that is a minor inconvenience compared to how lovely this product is overall.

Eyebrows: Maybelline Eye Studio Brow Define + Fill Duo – While I’m not really sure about the powder end, I really like the contouring tip side. The color is a very good match to my natural brows, and goes on very nicely. I find the powder side to be a little odd, and I’m not sure that it does anything in particular, but I will be sure to try that side out on its own at a later time, so that I can further develop my opinion.

Eyeliner: Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Lacquer Liner in Purple Rebel – While this liner appears vibrant and beautiful, it was a pretty big pain in the ass to use. I struggled to get full opacity, and thus had to go over the liner a good 3 to 4 times for each section. Because of the layering, I feel like the liner started to pick up on itself and crumble, creating patchy spots that crumbled off my eye throughout the day. I really want to like this product and will continue to try and use it, but I find it to be a very time consuming product, especially for someone who is not good at winged eyeliner.

Mascara: Covergirl Peacock Mascara – I’m not usually a Covergirl kind of person, but working at Target full time means I now have access almost immediately to new products as they come in and hit the shelves, and the prettiness of the mascara tube enticed me too much to pass it on. Despite the fact that I had purple eyeliner all in my lashes, I feel that this mascara was quite beautiful and very dark. It definitely doesn’t replace my drugstore favorite L’oreal Lash Paradise, but it’s still a gorgeous and affordable find. Plus, that packaging tho!

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Requiem – I feel like this color looks way more lilac on me than on Sephora’s website, but I actually prefer it that way. While I do thoroughly enjoy Kat Von D’s liquid lipsticks, I have the same problem with this color that I do with any of them; they’re still tacky for a VERY long time. In turn, this gave me a minor case of butthole mouth (see above). Overall though, I still enjoyed the consistency and color of this lippie.

That’s all I have for you guys today. Please remember to like, comment, and subscribe, it really helps me out. Also don’t forget to have a spookerific Monday!

Stay beautiful!
