Hello my lovelies!
I have a few quick announcements before I talk about my outfit!
I’ve decided to move my regular Friday posting to Saturday, as this day of the week overall works better with my schedule. Posting on Saturday also means that I am more likely able to post during the afternoon, instead of evenings like Monday and Wednesday. Also for PR reasons, posting any day BUT Friday garners me more traffic, which I understand, since the reason I’m moving my date is because I’m generally out and about at the end of the week. Selfishly, I get to claim more website traffic by moving my posting a day later.
Because April was a particularly busy month for me, I didn’t manage to get up my monthly review post. For May, I will have a post, however, I will be cutting it in half and reserving the rest for June, since I am a month off. Hope this works out ok for all of you!
I want to start including recipes as part of my blogging regimen. I want to lean more toward healthier eating, maybe include a few lifestyle posts, but I will definitely include some more decadent recipes now and again. I’m not going to lie and say that all of my recipes will be original, and if they aren’t I will be sure to link back where I found them, and any tweaks I made, if any, since I like to play with recipes instead of following the recipe; what can I say, I’ve never been one for rules! Since I am Celiac and living in an allergen-friendly home, most of my recipes will not include wheat/gluten containing products, artificial dyes, shellfish, and nuts. Unfortunately, I will not be able to cater to many vegans out there, as I am generally not able to use nut or soy based products due to allergies in my family. Generally, I adapt recipes to my specific dietary needs, so non-original recipes that I link may include these things, but I will leave my edits in place in my personal post. I love to cook and try new things, so don’t be surprised if I post an Ostrich burger or avocado brownies, it’s just my version of the norm!
I also wanted to give a quick shout out to the incredible privilege I have grown up with. The fact that I am able to use my own laptop, buy my own makeup products, buy nice clothing, and cook amazing food, is a sign of the privilege that I have experienced throughout my life. I never want to give the outward appearance that I am ungrateful or that I don’t acknowledge that others may have less (or more) than me. While I know it’s not the New Year, I wanted to create a resolution for myself for this summer in particular: I want to compliment at least one random stranger every day, even if it’s something as silly as complimenting their eyebrows. I also want to find more opportunities to use the skills that I have in volunteer situations. While I have always “wanted” things in the sense of a desire, I have never felt worried about when my next meal was, or what clothes I had left, or where I was going to sleep at night. That is not to say that the problems I face are irrelevant, but that I am in a position to help others who are not as fortunate as me. While I don’t share these things on here, I think about societal issues we face often, global and local, and I want to start doing something about these issues. I am no longer a small kid with no say in these matters, and as the future of this planet, I want to start making a difference, and I encourage everyone reading this, in your places of privilege, to do the same. I still want you all to remember that being privileged doesn’t make you a bad person, but being able to self-analyze and realize the place of comfort you are in is key to being compassionate and empathetic towards those who don’t have all the nice things that we have. Privilege is not bad; what’s bad is not using it wisely.
