Year In Review: 2016 Favorites

Hello my lovelies!

As of yesterday, I have been ridiculously sick and hiding in my bedroom since, so I’ve decided to post my 2016 favorites a little earlier than I planned, just to keep my weekly rhythm going.

Let’s get started:

Favorite Cleanser: Lush Cosmetics Herbalism Face and Body Cleanser – This stuff honestly smells tragic, but I love what it does to my skin. This stuff sucks up any extra oil I have, and takes care of my cystic acne. I stopped using this for most of this year, but I just recently switched back and rediscovered my love for this product.

Favorite Moisturizer: Tatcha Balanced Pore Perfecting Water Gel Moisturizer – I feel like this product has gotten majorly mixed reviews, but I absolutely adore it. First off, the packaging is gorgeous, second, the product actually works. This moisturizer hydrates my skin and combats my oiliness.

Favorite Foundation: Urban Decay All Nighter Liquid Foundation “0.5” – I first tried this out around August and posted an in depth review, and I’ve been in love ever since. The shade range is ridiculous, and 0.5 is just my perfect shade. The coverage and lasting power of this foundation also gets an A+.

Favorite Concealer: Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer “Fair Neutral” – I know I sound like a broken record mentioning this for the thousandth time, but it just works so well for me that I can’t stop. I have been on a hunt like no other to try and find something better, but so far I haven’t been successful. This concealer is essentially everything I could want in my life.

Favorite Undereye Powder: NYX Cosmetics HD Finishing Powder “Banana” – I don’t know what sorcery is in this powder, but it’s somehow light enough to not make my under eyes completely yellow and dark, after I’ve worked so hard to brighten with concealer (you know what I’m talking about, fellow pale girl).

Favorite All Over Face Powder: M.A.C. Studio Finish Powder Plus Foundation “NC15” – This powder is ALSO pale enough for me, which brings me a special type of joy. I am well aware that some say putting powder foundation on top of your foundation to set it is wrong, but if that’s the case, I don’t want to be right.

Favorite Contour: Smashbox #Shapematters Contour Shade – This is oddly specific, but this particular shade in the palette is the answer to my contour prayers. The powder is so luxurious, and just the perfect color for creating shadow.

Favorite Bronzer: Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder “Golden Light” – I’ve had this shit for ages and barely made a dent, so the pigmentation is definitely there. Surprisingly, this isn’t the lightest or ashiest bronzer, but it still looks amazing on my skin. There’s no sheen either, which is a huge bonus for me since I don’t want to be glowing absolutely everywhere.

Favorite Blush: Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush “Dollface” – I consider this my every day “nude” shade, despite the fact that it is a light baby pink. Because of my paleness, traditional nude blushes just don’t look great on me, but a light pink flush makes me look way more alive than I really am.

Favorite Highlight: Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector “Pearl” – YASSSS something pale enough for me. I’d glue glitter to my face any day, and this highlighter just reinforces that. I know the chunkier glitter highlight isn’t everyone’s thing, but it’s sure as hell mine.

Favorite Brow Product: Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer “Chocolate” – I have an ongoing relationship with this eyebrow pencil, and we’ll never break up. I live for the pigmentation and ease of use with this product, and the spoolie on the end will always be there for me when I need it most.

Favorite Eyeshadow Palette: Morphe 35O Palette – More and more, I find myself using this palette in my every day life. Warm neutrals are my shit, and this palette is filled with them. I love the fact that I paid 22 bucks for this palette too!

Favorite Mascara: Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara – You already know it. Do I need to explain my relationship with this mascara? No. It’s special. Leave me alone.

Favorite Liquid Lipstick Brand: Too Faced Melted Matte Liquefied Long Wear Matte Lipstick – I only have 2 shades from this range, but I love them till death do us part. This formula is super matte, but not at all drying. I am hoping and praying that Too Faced comes out with more shades eventually.

Favorite Bullet Lipstick Brand: Bite Beauty – I can’t rave enough about this brand. I love the all natural ingredients, the creaminess, and the pigmentation of these lipsticks. Fun fact, the brand is called Bite because the ingredients in their products are “good enough to eat”. How bomb is that?

Favorite Lipgloss Brand: NYX Butter Lipgloss – These babies are a drugstore classic. I know everyone loves them, but can you blame them? The pigmentation is all there, and the formula doesn’t glue your lips together. I wear gloss almost never, but when I do, this is the formula I go for.

I did not mention a few favorite product categories, simply because I haven’t found favorites to fill those spots. Believe me, I’m working on it!

That’s all I have for you guys today. Please remember to like, comment, and subscribe, it helps me out so much. Also don’t forget to have a lovely hump day.

Stay beautiful!
