Hello My Lovelies!
Today I want to enlighten you all on why washing your face is so ridiculously important and vital to the well-being of your skin. Lately, I’ve seen many beauty gurus advertising how they do not wash their face after certain activities, and while I say it’s ultimately your decision, I would love to share why I think washing your face is crucial
It removes the day’s grime and buildup.
Imagine you’ve spent your entire day outside, soaking in the sun and clean air around you. Now imagine all of the pollutants, dust, and microscopic particles floating around and attaching themselves ruthlessly to your face. If it were me, I wouldn’t be very interested in taking all of these things to bed with me. Simply washing your face, even with something as simple as Cetaphil, can take care of all the buildup your skin has collected for the day.
It helps with facial blemishes.
Washing your face at least twice a day with drastically improve the bacterial content of your skin. Think about it; your skin is an extremely porous organ, inviting virtually anything that’s small enough in, and the skin on your face is no different. By washing out those pores, you’re dislodging anything that wasn’t meant to be there in the first place, like acne causing bacteria. Additionally, as someone with Cystic acne, washing the face is extremely important for preventing infection, as cystic acne can often result in open wounds, leading to a multitude of infections that can worsen without proper care.
It takes off any makeup leftover from removal products.
While many YouTube beauty gurus will assure you that their skin is youthful and radiant even without properly removing their makeup, the fact of the matter is that it just isn’t true. Improperly removing makeup or other pore clogging products from your skin can result in irritated skin or rashes, blackheads, acne, abnormal redness, and premature aging, especially around the typical wrinkling areas such as the eyes, forehead, and mouth. Most of the time, taking a wipe to your skin is not enough, as the removal method may not have eradicated all that you originally desired. Additionally, pulling and tugging on areas of the skin with makeup removal products and not resetting with cool or lukewarm water can result in wrinkles becoming even more emphasized, as many makeup removing products contain drying agents in their formulas.
It can actually preserve the youthfulness of your skin.
As you age, the PH levels of the skin on your faces tends to fluctuate dramatically, most often leading to dry, rough, and sallow skin. Washing your face can help regulate these PH levels, allowing your skin to appear more youthful, radiant, and less wrinkly. Another helpful tip for aging skin is to always wash with cold water, as this tightens your skin, especially around the smile lines and forehead.
It’s just a good hygienic practice.
Yes, washing your face is a hassle, but maintaining a good hygienic appearance not only leads to a more positive impression from others, but it can also improve your self esteem. I’m sure for most people, walking around with a nice layer of dirt on their face isn’t the ideal way to live, and unfortunately it doesn’t make many friends either. However, good personal hygiene lends to the popular belief that you have a higher self-worth, which in turn reciprocates because you may actually like yourself more, all because you washed your face.
The fact of the matter is, please wash your face at least twice a day, and preferably after any strenuous activity or exercise. Keeping the skin on your face cleans make you not only look happy and healthy, but feel happy and healthy as well!
